Hello there,

I’m Shelby Shone and thank you for considering me for this ​opportunity. I’ve been an avid media enthusiast for my entire ​life, and I’ve finally developed the skills to be an asset when it ​comes to media production. Helping someone find the words ​or images to accurately express themselves is such a ​motivating endeavor for me, and I can’t think of a better ​reason to get out of bed and go to work every morning. I look ​forward to working with you, and I hope you like what you see.

University of ​Maryland

Since I started at UMD in 2023, I have gotten to work ​on so many different types of projects. Technical writing, ​graphic design, video production, and even app ​development! This job has let me flex my video ​production skills in an entirely new direction, creating ​professional style informative videos for the university ​programs, while also creating fun and engaging videos ​for social media to advertise numerous services . Being a ​Terp has been a blessing for me and my professional ​development. Let me show you what I learned!

New Hope

Working with New Hope was such a treat. They are a ​faith-based afterschool care program run by John and ​Christine Newman, and the work they do tutoring and ​engaging these kids is invaluable. Afterschool care and ​tutoring can be extremely cost prohibitive to parents ​struggling with poverty, and New Hope provided the ​Azalea Park community with a helping hand to help ​their kids grow. I assisted with the production of new ​brochures, promotional pictures, as well as researching ​and pitching a rebrand at the request of the founders.

Video Production

Starting my own YouTube channel during the pandemic ​was the best thing I could have done for myself. Having ​just finished my Master’s program only to be greeted by ​a job market devastated by Covid, I was itching for a ​way to express myself creatively. Here we are two years ​later and I have written, filmed, edited, and produced ​over 20 videos for my channel. It has been such an ​incredible learning experience, as anytime I have had to ​learn to do something new, I had to attempt to teach ​myself, which has increased my technological ​competency greatly. I’d love to put these new skills to ​use for you, and learn even more about this field
